I saw you were using the Solo brand of dog door for Kushi. My wife and I have two mini pinschers and are considering this brand of door, just curious if you're still pleased with yours.
Yes, except for the initial exorbitant purchase price, both Kushi and her owners are very pleased with the door. It's been working flawlessly so far these past months. The door has been opening/closing without fail every time (and Kushi likes to give the door a constant workout).
The only minor annoyance is that any moving piece of metal that came within range of the door would trigger it to open. This would include opening the metal sliding patio door, or running the vacuum near the door.
But otherwise, it's definitely worth it, especially if you need to let one animal out and keep another animal inside.
In Japanese, the two words "kuroi" and "shiroi" mean black and white, and KU-SHI is the combination of the two words. Also, in my husband's language Tamil, Kushi means "happy."
